Durga Puja 2017

Durga puja is an annual Hindu festival marking the battle of goddess Durga which epitomizes the victory of good over evil. It also is in part a harvest festival that marks the goddess as the motherly power behind all of life and creation.

From the medieval period up through present day, the Durga puja has celebrated the goddess with performance arts and as a social event, while maintaining the religious worship.

Maa Durga is omnipresent as the embodiment of power, nourishment, memory, forbearance, faith, forgiveness, intellect, wealth, emotions, desires, beauty, satisfaction, righteousness, fulfilment and peace at the end.

Keeping above philosophy in mind, we, at Urbana, are organising Durgotsav for the 2nd year in succession under the guidance of a new committee. We have planned celebrations in grand way, strictly maintaining and adhering to traditional values and norms of worship practices and rituals.

To make our endeavour a success, we urge all Urbanites to come forward with family and friends and participate in this Durgotsav of grand magnitude so that our flag is kept high in the tallest and grandest residential complex of Kolkata which we proudly call “OUR HOME".

Volunteers will get in touch with you for collection of subscriptions soon. The minimum subscription amount for Urbana flat owners and residents has been fixed at Rs. 2000/- per flat by UWADC. It is up to YOU to decide the MAXIMUM LIMIT!

Request for Souvenir Articles

Residents are cordially invited to send articles, stories, poems, paintings, collection of interesting anecdotes, riddles, quiz questions etc. The selected works will be published in the Durga Puja Souvenir, 2017. Please submit your contribution by 31st August 2017 latest.

• Articles in all languages should not exceed 1000 words i.e. two A4 size papers approximately
• English articles should be mailed as Word documents to urbanasouvenir@gmail.com
• Articles in other languages written clearly and drawings, photographs etc. should be submitted to Tower 7 reception, in a sealed envelope marked “SOUVENIR”. Alternatively, scanned copies of the same can also be emailed to the above email address. Please remember to mention your name and tower number
• It will also be very much appreciated if scanned copies of drawings and digital copies of photographs in JPEG format are sent to the above mail address, in case you are submitting the physical copies

1. Submission will NOT be returned except original paintings. So please keep a copy of your articles with you.

On 25 September Panchami - ANONDOMELA is being organised. There are no charges for stalls to Urbana residents. Everybody is welcome to put stalls for food, games and lifestyle products.

This is going to be one EVENT ful Durga puja at Urbana.
There will be competitions and events galore with prizes ranging from 5 star stays to lavish meals, from attractive vouchers to exciting hampers.

• Be at the right place at the right time and come back with goodies from the interesting events designed by UWA Durgotsav Event committee.
• Cheer for our Urbana as we make our debut in The Times Pujo Barir Shera Pujo.

Bijoya Sammilani

After Bishorjon, the empty Pandal makes us sad and a year long wait starts.
However this year the wait for “Aasche Bochor Abar Hobe” (next year it will happen again) kicks off in the spirit of Bijoya where Urbanites will come together in a music and food extravaganza. For details on a night of rollicking performance by Saptak Bhattacharjee and lip smacking food, watch this space.
